A 'redbug' is another common name for the larval stage of the Trombiculidae mites, better known as chiggers. They're called 'redbugs' because they appear as tiny red dots on the skin after they bite. These mites don't burrow, but their saliva causes intense itching and red welts. Think of them as nature's tiny red irritants. Unlike bedbugs, they don't live in your mattress, but they do love to hang out in grassy areas. They may be small, but they pack a big itchy punch! π₯
