Definition
Rimactane is another brand name for rifampin, an antibiotic drug used to combat bacterial infections, particularly tuberculosis (TB). Like Rifadin, Rimactane is simply a commercially available version of rifampin. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting bacterial RNA polymerase, thereby stopping the bacteria from reproducing. It's commonly administered alongside other antibiotics to prevent drug resistance. Think of it as a different flavor of the same powerful medicine – same active ingredient, different packaging.
