A "rockchuck" is a colloquial name for the yellow-bellied marmot, a type of ground squirrel found in western North America. These marmots are chunky, furry creatures with yellowish undersides. They live in rocky areas, hence the name 'rockchuck.' They are social animals, living in colonies, and are active during the day. Rockchucks hibernate during the winter to conserve energy. Think of them as the chill roommates of the rocky slopes, always hanging out and sunbathing. They're herbivores, feasting on local vegetation.
