Definition
The rudderstock is the upper part of the rudderpost, connecting the rudder to the steering mechanism โ. It is what the steering cables or linkages attach to, allowing the helmsman to control the rudder. Think of it as the 'neck' of the rudder, connecting the 'head' (steering) to the 'body' (blade). The rudderstock transmits the force from the steering gear down to the rudder blade. A robust rudderstock ensures precise and reliable steering.
