Definition
Sauropodomorpha is a clade of long-necked, herbivorous dinosaurs within Saurischia. They are the ancestors of the giant sauropods. Imagine the 'proto-sauropods,' evolving towards those massive forms. 🦕 They were among the largest terrestrial animals ever to exist. They include the long-necked prosauropods and the enormous sauropods. Early sauropodomorphs were bipedal or quadrupedal. This group represents a key stage in the evolution of gigantic herbivorous dinosaurs.
