Definition
A saury is a type of slender, elongated fish with distinctive long, beak-like jaws. They belong to the family Scombresocidae and are found in oceans around the world. They swim in large schools near the surface of the water. Think of them as the 'flying fish' of the non-tropical zones. They feed primarily on plankton and small invertebrates. Saury are important prey for larger fish, seabirds, and marine mammals.
