Definition
The scaphoid bone is one of the eight small carpal bones in your wrist. It's located on the thumb side of your wrist and is shaped like a cashew. π₯ It's crucial for wrist movement and stability. It connects the two rows of carpal bones. Unlike a load-bearing column, it's more like a keystone of an arch. Fractures of the scaphoid are common injuries, often resulting from falls.
