Definition
Sewellel is an alternative name for the mountain beaver (*Aplodontia rufa*), a rodent native to North America. These animals are not true beavers, despite their name. They are the only living member of the family Aplodontiidae. Sewellels are found in damp forests and have a unique appearance. Think of them as living relics, representing an ancient lineage. They are an important part of their ecosystems.
