Definition
A "tarpan" was a now-extinct breed of wild horse that roamed Europe and Asia. 🐴 They were smaller and stockier than modern horses, with a dun-colored coat and a dark mane and tail. Think of them as the ancient ancestors of today's horses. They weren't as majestic as some modern breeds. Recreations of the breed live in certain wildlife preserves. They are a bit like the dinosaurs of the horse world.
