Definition
A telephone dial is a circular input device on older telephones, used to enter a phone number. You rotated the dial clockwise for each digit, then released it to return to its starting position. Each rotation generated electrical pulses that corresponded to the dialed number, signaling the phone exchange. Telephone dials are largely obsolete now, replaced by push-button keypads and touchscreens. Itβs like a manual keyboard for phones! π
