Definition
A *termite* is a small, pale insect that lives in colonies and feeds on wood. These social insects are known for their destructive habits, as they can cause significant damage to buildings and other wooden structures. Termites have a caste system, with workers, soldiers, and reproductives (kings and queens). They play a vital role in ecosystems by breaking down cellulose in dead plant matter. Think of them as nature's recyclers, albeit sometimes a bit too eager to recycle your house.
