Definition
Tracheophyta refers to vascular plants, which are plants that have specialized tissues for transporting water and nutrients. Think of them as plants with internal plumbing. These tissues, xylem and phloem, allow vascular plants to grow tall and thrive in diverse environments. This group includes most of the plants you see around you, from trees to flowers to grasses. The presence of vascular tissue is a key evolutionary adaptation. They are dominant in many terrestrial ecosystems.
