Definition
A "trichopteron" is simply a singular form referring to an insect of the order Trichoptera, more commonly known as a caddisfly. This term is less frequently used than "trichopteran," which can refer to any member of the order. A trichopteron's larval stage is typically aquatic and builds a protective case. The adult form is moth-like with hairy wings. Consider it as a single character in an ensemble cast, part of the larger group.
