Uintatheriidae is a family within the order Dinocerata. It includes some of the largest and most well-known dinoceratans. Imagine them as the heavyweight champions of their time. They were characterized by their massive size and prominent horns or ossicones on their skulls. These were plant-eaters, browsing on vegetation in ancient forests. They represent an early experiment in megafauna, paving the way for later giants like elephants. They had a unique appearance unlike any living mammal today.
