The term 'undertide' is often mistakenly used to describe the force that pulls swimmers underwater. It's commonly confused with 'undertow' or 'rip current', but it’s not a scientifically recognized phenomenon. People often use 'undertide' to explain the feeling of being pulled down by a wave. Imagine a wave crashing over you and momentarily dragging you down – that sensation is sometimes incorrectly called an undertide. Actual currents like rip currents are different and pose real dangers. ⚠️ 'Undertide' is more of a common misnomer than a real thing.
