Definition
Vesiculovirus is a genus within the Rhabdoviridae family, primarily known for causing vesicular stomatitis (VS) in livestock. 🐄 VS results in blister-like lesions in the mouth, nose, and feet of animals like cattle, horses, and pigs. While VS is usually not fatal, it can cause significant economic losses due to trade restrictions and reduced productivity. Sometimes, humans can get a mild, flu-like illness from Vesiculovirus. Think of Vesiculovirus as the 'blister-causing' member of the Rhabdoviridae family. Quick diagnosis and quarantine measures are important to control outbreaks.
