Definition
A wasp is a stinging insect closely related to bees and ants, but generally more slender. Unlike bees, wasps often have a more defined waist and a smooth, shiny exoskeleton. Many wasps are predators, hunting insects to feed their young, while others are social and live in colonies. Wasps play important roles in ecosystems, both as predators and pollinators. They can be found in a variety of habitats, from gardens to forests. Some wasps build nests from paper pulp, while others nest in the ground.
