Definition
Water flaxseed (*Utricularia gibba*) is a carnivorous aquatic plant. It floats freely in the water. Unlike typical plants with roots, it uses small bladders to trap tiny aquatic organisms. Think of it as the Venus flytrap πͺ€ of the pond! It supplements its nutrient intake by digesting these creatures. Although small, it plays a vital role in controlling populations of microorganisms. Water flaxseed is nature's tiny predator.
