Definition
A wax moth is any moth whose larvae feed on wax, particularly beeswax. They are a significant pest for beekeepers, as their larvae tunnel through and destroy honeycombs. Think of them as tiny demolition experts inside a bee's home. Unlike bees, which diligently build the wax structures, wax moths tear them down. These moths are nocturnal, preferring to operate under the cover of darkness. They can quickly turn a thriving hive into a ruin if left unchecked.
