Definition
Woodland caribou are a subspecies of caribou found in the boreal forests of North America. They are larger and darker than their tundra relatives. 🌲 Unlike migratory caribou, they tend to be more sedentary, staying within smaller areas. Think of them as the homebodies of the caribou world. 🏡 They rely on old-growth forests for lichen, their primary food source. They're a sensitive indicator of forest health. They also are affected by changes to climate.
