Definition
Kalotermitidae is a family of termites known as drywood termites. They live entirely within dry wood without needing contact with the soil. Unlike some other termites, they don't build nests in the ground. Imagine them as the minimalist termites, perfectly content living inside furniture or wooden structures. They are often found in furniture and wooden buildings. Their colonies are relatively small. These termites obtain moisture from the wood they consume. They are important in the decomposition of dead wood in forests.
