Definition
Melolontha is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Melolonthidae, often referred to as cockchafers or May bugs. These beetles are known for their large size and destructive feeding habits. Think of them as the bulldozers of the insect world. 🚜 The larvae, or grubs, live underground and feed on plant roots, while the adults consume leaves and flowers. Melolontha beetles are particularly active in the spring, hence the name "May bug." They can cause significant damage to crops and forests. 🌳
